Executive Summary

Crimson & Gold Consulting Firm assists in the solution of ethical, financial, and legal issues that arise in the business world. Crimson & Gold’s client is the University of Arizona, a public institution employing 14,055 individuals. The University of Arizona faces ethical, legal, and financial issues in the area of Umbilical Cord Blood (UCB) biotechnology storage and ownership. In order for the University of Arizona to compete with other universities, public and private biotechnology firms, it will have to pursue new and imaginative avenues with respect to marketing and research. Crimson & Gold has been called upon to propose a course of action that will revitalize and increase the financial and legal standing of the company while allowing it to work within an acceptable ethical framework. What follows is an introduction to the case that will be explored during the course of our consultation.
