Summary
The recorded
music industry has historically seen a pattern of recorded music
products losing popularity among consumers when new products are
introduced. Typically consumers favor products with the highest
quality, durability and portability. This trend is once again
realized with the shift in consumer preference to digital music.
However, because
of the rapid pace at which technology has developed recently,
this shift in consumer preference has blind-sided the Recording
Industry Association of America (RIAA). Their failure to create
a digital music product to meet consumer demands has caused significant
financial and legal harm to RIAA members.
The most recent
responses from the RIAA, however, do not take into consideration
the financial and legal impact on downloaders. This is causing
unnecessary harm against the very consumers the RIAA depends on.
We have proposed
a multi-step solution for the RIAA to consider, which addresses
the financial, legal & ethical factors of all parties directly
involved in this crisis. We are here today to inform the RIAA
of the current issues that need to be considered, and to recommend
our solution, MusicPlay.com.
